Meet Dr. Marcelle Friedman

Dr. Friedman is a clinical psychologist specializing in evidence-based approaches for youth and families struggling with post-traumatic stress, behavioral challenges in early childhood, mood and anxiety disorders, and coping with chronic illness.

Dr. Friedman is passionate about helping clients build resilience, find relief, and cultivate nurturing relationships through evidence-based, collaborative care that centers each family’s unique strengths, challenges, and cultural background. Informed by her research background in attachment, Dr. Friedman is particularly drawn to supporting the parent-child relationship as a source of resilience, and empowering caregivers with concrete tools to navigate challenging seasons of their child’s development.

Dr. Friedman is a Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT)-certified therapist and is pursuing certification in Trauma Focused-Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT). As part of her graduate work at Stanford University’s Early Life Stress and Pediatric Anxiety Program, she was also trained in Cue-Centered Therapy, an evidence-based treatment developed for youth with histories of complex or chronic trauma. When indicated, Dr. Friedman incorporates exposure-based CBT, parent coaching, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy into treatment. Having trained across academic medical, community-based, and educational settings, she appreciates the benefits of multidisciplinary care and is committed to collaborating with caregivers, teachers, and medical professionals to optimize treatment through holistic support.

Dr. Friedman received her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Yale University and her M.S. and Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology from PGSP-Stanford Psy.D. Consortium in Palo Alto, CA. She completed her clinical psychology internship at Harvard Medical School/Boston Children’s Hospital, and her postdoctoral fellowship at Dell Children’s Medical Center/Texas Child Study Center in Austin. Dr. Friedman is also enthusiastic about the dissemination of evidence-based practice. In this spirit, she hopes to build on past experience educating medical staff and trainees in evidence-based psychotherapy and trauma-informed care through teaching and supervision in the community.

Dr. Friedman is licensed in the state of Texas (PSY 40143) and is also authorized to practice telehealth through the Authority to Practice Interjurisdictional Telepsychology (APIT) in active PSYPACT states (Mobility No 18322).
